Each week Macaroni KID Savannah highlights five events in Savannah. This week, we're highlighting 5 things to do in Savannah, Ga with kids March 22nd-29th. See our full events calendar for all this week's Savannah, Ga., family fun! 


Start a Garden

It’s a perfect time to start planting and the Live Oaks Library System has a seed borrow program, the Seed Library.  You do not have to be a library member.  Head to your local library and check out seeds.  You are allowed three packets per month.  If you are a novice check out this educational article from UGA Extension to learn how to begin. 


FFM

Head to the favorite Forsyth Farmers’ Market.  Walk around, shop and support your local vendor’s. Bring a blanket and enjoy a snack in the outdoors.  The farmer’s market is open from 9am to 1pm.  And of course the Forsyth Playground is always a quality time.  


Take a Train Ride

Head over to the Georgia State Railroad Museum for a diesel train ride. The train is operating Friday, Saturday and Sunday.   Friday and Saturday rides are hourly from 10am to 3pm and Sunday rides are hourly from 1pm to 3pm.  Schedule and locomotives are subject to change so please call ahead at 912-651-6840. Tickets are $11per adult and $7 per child ages 2 to 12. 


Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites

Did you know the Live Oaks Library allows you to check out park passes for the week?  Spring is the perfect time of year to enjoy the fresh air. If you have already have a library card, head to your local library and see if any park passes are available.  It is a first come first serve offer.  This will allow free admission into Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites.  Try Skidaway State Park, Ft. McAllister, Fort Morris, Wormsloe Historic Site, Fort Jackson and more.


Storytime at your Local Library

In person story time is back in full swing.  Check with your local library https://liveoakpl.org/home to view the calendar.  In person story time is recommended for ages 0 to 5.  This week Island’s, Oglethorpe Mall, Southwest Chatham, Bull Street, and Pooler Libraries all having events.
